Seventy-five percent of those surveyed last month for an AP-National Constitutional Center poll disagreed with the Supreme Court’s Kelo decision, which said eminent domain could be used for private economic development.
The poll found that opposition to eminent domain for private economic development was as strong amongst liberal respondents as with conservative ones. Additionally, those surveyed said that private property rights were just as important as First Amendment rights.
