SAVE THE GOLDEN KEY HOTEL

Ray Patel needs your help.  Ray owns the Golden Key Hotel, next door to developer Rick Caruso’s Americana at Brand mega-mall, in Glendale, California.  Caruso built his mall using the threat of eminent domain to buy-out the existing property owners six years ago.

Now, Caruso has decided to expand – and he wants Ray’s property, which isn’t for sale. 

The Glendale City Council has given Ray an ultimatum: redevelop your property, sell to Caruso, or we’ll seize it for Caruso.

On Feb. 15, the Redevelopment Agency will hold a special hearing to decide whether or not to approve the plan Ray was forced to submit for the redevelopment of his hotel.  If they deny it, the city will pursue condemnation.

As you know, eminent domain is for public use – things like roads and schools – not to steal land for a rich developer.  Join us at the Golden Key Hotel on Tuesday at 8am for a rally and press conference.  Then follow us to the Redevelopment Agency public hearing on Ray’s plan at 9am.
